Stini Industries is a diverse family business. Our experience and innovative approach towards the commercial painting industry has given our team the skills and knowledge for site specific problem solving within environmental and health and safety sensitive projects.
The conception of the Moon Deck brand is from the successful innovative glow-in-the-dark luminous coating systems developed by our parent company Strini Industries. Developed not for decorative purposes, but to value add safety mitigation as a cost effective environmental alternative never achieved before.
The application of our Moon Deck System is limited only by the imagination with continual requests for the ability to design and engineer a system that works within our clients’ particular health and safety regulatory requirements and legislative obligations.
Strini Industries were initially engaged in late 2013 by a national civil infrastructure company, under the instruction of Transport for NSW to develop a system to help transform a 400-metre path into a safer and more user-friendly glow-in-the-dark footpath for pedestrians and cyclists. Similar attempts had been trialled throughout the world with little success in performance.
The problems detected with the overseas product posed significant potential health, safety and environmental concerns not meeting Australian standards and regulatory requirements.
Due to the high costs of pure grade mineral, glow-in-the-dark products and pigments had only previously been used for novelty goods, by synthetically modifying ingredients and substituting them with highly phosphorus components. At Strini Industries - as with any typical Australian company - we believed we could do it better than anyone in the world, and we think we have!
With rigorous research, development and on- and off-site testing and trials, we have formulated a system that not only meets all environmental, health and safety requirements, but exceeds them. Moon Deck coatings meet all current NATA certified resistant standards. AS- 4586:2013 to class P5, the highest standard achievable.
Now endorsed at local, state and federal government level, we can continue to expand nationally with many projects already successfully completed in various forms.
Moon Deck Today
The Moon Deck trademark became its own entity following the demand for innovative services. A variety of systems have been designed, from complete path resurfacing, to linemarking for shared pedestrian/ cycling path ways, to way-finding signage and symbols.
The ability to provide a low cost, visual passive form of lumination for areas of complete darkness, low light or remote areas without access to powered infrastructure compliments the ability to provide such a system.
The intention was never to compare with overlaying street lighting but to provide a simple measure of hazard identification to the ever growing network of cycling/pedestrian infrastructure. The Moon Deck coatings have no boundaries on its suitability inclusive of regional and rural communities. The company now has the ability to provide a safe passive form of lumination that has been restricted in the past.
Our motivation is to continually improve, design and develop further Moon Deck Systems Streamlining of cost effective application techniques that are driven by market demand, and ever- increasing interests both nationally and globally which support this innovation within workplace health & safety and the growing popularity of public spaces and commuting networks.
If it can’t be seen how can it be safe?
Dear Mr Strini, Thank you for your email of 6th August 2014, regarding the Gosford Passing Loops Project. Transport for NSW thanks you and Strini Industries for your comments and positive feedback. We hope the community enjoys the Gosford glow path. Thank you for taking the time to write to me.
Gladys Berejiklian MP, Minister for Transport
Strini Industries demonstrated a "can do" culture providing solutions to any problems that arose throughout the installation. The company director Frank developed a strong relationship with Downer through regular communication and a high level of professionalism. Positive feedback received from the community highlights the success of the product developed by Strini Industries. Thanks for the glow in the dark paths from Carrington Street Narara to Brooks Avenue Wyoming. Even with little or no moon light these paths are visible.
